Sometimes it is difficult to discover the things that will work for you. At Essents, we are committed to understanding your individual needs and to providing opportunities, support and encouragement for you to enjoy life and achieve your desires.
As a unique service for you, we offer a Whole of Body consultation, providing a personal guide to work with the "whole-of-you". This consultation takes a broad look at your life and the stresses you are experiencing. Often people are unaware of the signs and symptoms of stress or tension which, if left unaddressed will eventually cause disease or personal difficulties. This consultation assesses the impact on the "whole of the body", identifying any physical, emotional or mental stress, so that you will begin to see where you can make a difference.
The outcome of this consultation is that you will better understand the "whole-of-you" and will have a unique plan prioritising your health and wellbeing issues and matching suitable services to support you effectively. With these recommendations you will be well prepared to turn your destructive feedback loop into a productive one, giving you the support you need to feel happy, healthy and fulfilled. Our Whole of Body Consultant is Essents director, Judy Baker.
When life is going smoothly, everything seems to flow, you feel well, you are mentally clear and positive and you feel great. But when stress arises from anything from your work to a relationship to chronic illness, the whole of your body - how you are physically, what you are thinking and how you are emotionally - is affected. This is because your mind is connected, "hard-wired", to your body. Essents has created a model to demonstrate this interrelationship between your physical, emotional and mental self and to show how change is possible. It is known as the The Whole of Body Feedback Loop.
An example of how this interrelationship works is depression. Physically, a person who is depressed has a low level of serotonin. When there is low circulation of serotonin in the body, it promotes an environment for negative thinking, impacting on the person's view of the world. Negative thinking will also impact on what sort of emotions this person experiences, which could be a complex mix from anger through to sadness through to hopelessness. Of course, every emotion creates a physical reaction.
However, what is really important is that the reverse is also true. These types of emotions will, by themselves, create negative thinking.
Even more interesting is that negative thinking or prolonged periods of emotions of sadness or sorrow will actually reduce the amount of serotonin being secreted. In this case, the physical, the thinking and the emotional aspects are creating a negative feedback loop, each aspect impacting or feeding back on each other.
The same concept of a loop feeding back on itself applies to feeling 'trapped' or overwhelmed, or experiencing physical stress such as headaches, pain or being overweight.
The upside of this is that this destructive negative feedback loop can always be interrupted to create a more positive feedback loop. A change can be made to any of these (physical, emotions or thinking) and this will impact on the other two. For example, losing weight or getting fit will result in a change physically, by improving your physiology and biochemistry. This then acts positively on your thinking and emotions, and the way you manage stress. For real success, working on your thinking as well as physically, will accelerate your results and give a long term effect.
Our two core philosophies underlie the use of the The Whole of Body Feedback Loop. Firstly, the mind and the body are connected. This means that any experience you have will affect the whole of your body, for instance, you cannot have a physical stress without your thinking and emotions also being involved. Secondly, different approaches work for different people. You are unique, physically, emotionally and in your thinking and the approaches that work well for you may not be as effective for another person. That is why we offer a broad selection of services and practitioners.
